Love yourself – The basics of self-love

By  |  0 Comments

Good morning Beautiful!  No matter what we study as Christians, it all keeps coming back to love. How you love God, how you love yourself and how you love others.   Consider this, if someone were to look at how well you love yourself, would they want you to love them too?  How well you love yourself is simply a foundation for how well you’ll love others.  When you take better care of yourself – spiritually, emotionally, mentally, physically – you position yourself to do better by the other people in your life.  It takes discipline, but when you get tired enough of the results that you’ve seen in a certain area, you’ll invest the time you need to to see better results. You’ve done it before, Beautiful, you can do it again.  And remember when you did, how good it felt?

The fact is, God is always with you.  He’s got His arms around you and He’s guiding you.  But there’s no where to go until you decide to move.  There’s so much for you to experience, and your destiny is calling you.  You may not see exactly how it’s going to work out, but this is where increasing your faith comes in.  “Now faith is the assurance of what we hope for and the certainty of what we do not see.” (Hebrews 11:1)

Recognize the times that God has led you when you weren’t sure what was going to happen.  You made it through, because you’re still here.  Now today, increase your level of commitment to loving yourself better.

  • Increase your mental health by writing down what the things you’re grateful for that God has done in your life
  • Increase your physical health by committing to another level of fitness
  • Increase your spiritual health by taking 1 more day per week to spend 30 minutes praying, reading a devotional or Christian book, and journaling what you hear and feel from God
  • Increase your emotional health by doing something kind for someone else

The more you engage in these types of activities, the more you’re demonstrating self-love to YOU, and the better you’re able to love and serve others the way that Christ is guiding you to.

Foundational Scripture for Today: “… ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'” Matthew 22:39
