Enjoying the journey

Good morning Beautiful! When it’s all said and done, a large part of enjoying your life is in enjoying the journey. Our grandmothers used to instruct us to take “one day at time.” Step by step, day by day, there’s beauty in life to discover. You get to choose how much of it will be enjoyed and treasured, by whether or not you choose to enjoy the journey.

It’s just that, sometimes, the destination appears to be so wonderful, that we want to rush the journey in order to get there. However, the destination is only sweet when the journey can serve its true purpose, which is:

1. To help you adjust your expectations: The best results are achieved over time. God created time and placed us in it for a reason. Time gives you the benefit of delayed satisfaction (because you can shout right now over things/people you think you want but later discover they would’ve been horrible had you gotten them), the room to adjust your decisions for the best outcome over time. This is a benefit of the journey you can be happy for!

2. To prepare you: Preparation gives you the muscle and fortitude to handle the destination when you get there. You wouldn’t give a baby $1,000 and expect her to manage it-it would be completely unreasonable. The baby would first have to grow up over many more years before you would even consider such a thing. God looks at it the same way. He’s only going to give you what you create the capacity to handle do your choices and decisions. When you choose to enjoy your life and enjoy the journey, you position yourself with proper preparation and expand your capacity.

Today, know that you don’t have to rush it beautiful. Everything that God has for you will come in its proper time. You don’t want it before you’re ready and you don’t want it after the time has passed. So trust God with your times, and believe that he’ll be with you on the journey. Then, take some time to really enjoy it!

Foundational scripture for today: “There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens…” Ecclesiastes 3:1
