Begin to love yourself again

Good morning Beautiful! We hear a lot about loving yourself, ways to love yourself and techniques to use to love yourself.  Overcoming the weights of the past requires that you look at yourself with a fresh new love every morning, gently treating your spirit with kindness.  In short, real self-love starts from the inside.  It’s all about how you’re taking care of yourself on the inside, more than it is about how you care for your external self.  It won’t matter how fit you are, how much you get your hair and nails done or what kind of car and clothes you buy if your spirit is exhausted, over-worked, disregarded, neglected or hurting.  Be honest – how have you been doing at truly loving yourself…on the inside? Imagine the most enjoyable ways that someone else has loved you.  Now ask yourself how often you do those things for yourself.

Ways to practice better self-love:

  • Be gentle in your thoughts about yourself.  Release the judgement about the past, present or future.
  • Be kind to yourself.  Stop doing things to yourself that you would be mad about if other people did them to you.
  • Be intentional with yourself.  Make yourself smile – on purpose.
  • Be peaceful with yourself.  If you don’t get it all done, relax.  The world won’t fall apart.
  • Be positive with yourself.  Instead of dwelling on what went wrong, think about all the things that went right.

It’s God’s desire that we love ourselves the way that He loves us – with patience, kindness and a deep agape love.  Agape love is the highest form of love.  It’s the unconditional, all-encompassing love that He uses to show us who He really is.  Embrace yourself today, and give yourself a break.  You can do it.
